Thirteen generic Spitfire PR Mk XI skins to be used on either:
a) The Spitfire PR MK XI mod aircraft which is available at sas1946.com (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2773.0.html) as a seperate mod and is
also included in mod packs such as UP3/DBW.
OR
b) As a hack skin on the Spitfire LF Mk VIII in the stock game.

Place these skins in:
\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins\SpitfireMkXI
OR
\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins\SpitfireMkVIII

Notes for mission/campaign builders: With the exception of the application of the D-Day schemes wearing the full invasion stripes, the changes between markings and cammo
styles were phased in as and when it was possible due to operations. As such the dates I have provided below should not be treated as hard dates but rather as the time at
which one scheme would start gradually changing to the next, so there would have been a lot of overlap and variations of the different schemes. I could have made more skins
to reflect this however that would mean a LOT of skins!
If you are using these skins on the MkVIII keep in mind that the XI was unarmed.

HBP_PRXI_RAF_early.bmp
Used in the ETO from late 1942 (first sortie 30 November) untill 4 June 1944. Note that production delays ment that the XI did not see wide spread service untill the summer
of 1943. Also to used from early December 1944 when the last vestiges of the invasion stripes were removed untill January 1945.
Also used in the MTO from March 1943 untill January 1945. As in the ETO, the XI did not see wide spread service in the MTO untill well into the summer of 1943.

HBP_PRXI_RAF_Dday.bmp
Used in the ETO from 4 June 1944 untill August 1944.

HBP_PRXI_RAF_Dday_late.bmp
Used in the ETO from August 1944 untill early December 1944. Note that the "shadows" of the deleted stripes are the remnants left after they were washed off with water
and detergent.

HBP_PRXI_RAF_late.bmp
Used in the ETO and MTO from January 1945 through to the post war period.

HBP_PRXI_RAF_SEACearly.bmp
Used in the CBI theatre by 681 Squadron from early October 1943 through to the post war period.

HBP_PRXI_RAF_SEAClate.bmp
Used in the CBI theatre by 681 Squadron from early February 1945 untill the end of the war. Note that this scheme did not completely replace the earlier scheme.

Note that the USAAF used the Spitfire PR XI in the ETO only.

HBP_PRXI_US_early.bmp
Used from November 1943 untill 4 June 1944.

HBP_PRXI_US_Dday.bmp
Used from 4 June 1944 untill August 1944.

HBP_PRXI_US_Dday_late_white.bmp and HBP_PRXI_US_Dday_late_yellow.bmp
Used from August 1944 untill early December 1944. The spinner colours represent which flight they belonged to. Note that these aircraft have "shadows" of where the
invasion stripes were removed however unlike the RAF the US painted over the stripes rather than wash them off, hence the different shade of PRU Blue and the lack
of stencils in the effected areas.

HBP_PRXI_US_late_white.bmp and HBP_PRXI_US_late_yellow.bmp
Used from early December 1944 untill March 1945.

HBP_PRXI_US_nmf.bmp
Used from March 1945 untill the end of the war. The blue spinner and red engine panels are the Group colours while the green rudder is the squadron colour.

Please note that I have made technical detail differences between the RAF and USAAF versions.
The US types are based on early PR XIs (powered by the Merlin 61, 63 or 63A) and as such they have a fuel cooler (the hole in the port wing root), no extra fuel pumps
(hence no blisters on the underside of the wings), no extra reinforcing around the vertical cameras and the pilot's head-rest cushion retained. Also, I have not included
the oblique camera as the 14th PS (in which all the PR XIs were operated) was involved in strategic recon for the 8th AF bombers.
The RAF skins are based on the later PR XI (Merlin 70) and as such the details are the opposite for those that I mentioned for the US aircraft.

Template and skins by myself, HBPencil. It is a heavily reworked version of a Mk VIII template I made years ago so although the vast majority of the work is mine
there are some elements from the old Mk VIII void file, namely small bits of the mech/internals as my own attempts to improve on them had negligible results.

Many thanks to the team at Axis-&-Allies (www.axis-and-allies-paintworks.com) for their assistance and tips while I worked on this project.

IMPORTANT
You may use these skins freely (provided its for non-profit and/or non-commercial use) and so long as you give credit and leave the credits on the skins
and the file names unchanged. Likewise please do not use these skins in part or in whole to create other skins without giving due credit. Please do not
upload these skins to any website without my permission unless they are bundled with a mission/campaign in which they are used.

If you any questions regarding these skins, or the use of, please dont hesitate to message me at Axis-&-Allies or email me at hbpencil79@hotmail.com

Happy flying!
